Distribution Centre Manager (contract)

DEPARTMENT SUPPLY CHAIN

BASED DURBAN FIBRES ROAD DC

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

To lead, manage and coordinate the optimum financial and operational performance of the Distribution Centre through entrenching a performance based culture of continuous improvement and health and safety awareness in line with the Sikhula KunYe Culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the financial and operational performance of the Distribution Centre by reducing costs and increasing efficiency and effectiveness,
  • Plan production and capacity – space, people, equipment and technology in alignment with projected inflow and outflow volumes,
  • Implement and optimize the supply chain strategy,  applying processes and methodologies in accordance with best practices,
  • Manage the Distribution Centre in accordance with standards, policies and procedures
  • Stock Management,
  • Manages alignment with internal and external stakeholders (including Buying; Planning; Suppliers and Pepkor Logistics),
  • Be a custodian of  Distribution Centre culture, values and principles in line with PEP culture, and
  • Entrench performance based culture of continuous improvement in the Distribution Centre in line with PEP culture.

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant tertiary qualification. A qualification in Logistics/Supply Chain Management advantageous
  • 8 years management experience in a warehousing environment (FMCG / Retail or Manufacturing or Engineering)
  • People Leadership and Management Skills – Proven track of leading cross functional teams
  • Excellent Communication Skills and influential skills
  • Experience in DC processes
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
  • Proficient in G-Suite/Ms Office
  • Highly emotionally mature, confident DC Operations professional, who can work independently, and across multiple stakeholders
